BASIC ACTIVITY GUIDELINES

- Check with leader before activity to confirm details and
any changes
- Arrive a little early at rendezvous point as posted in
the club schedule
- Listen to leader and follow instructions
- Stay in groups with a minimum of three persons except
with permission of activity leader in areas with heavy
traffic
- No pets, smoking, or alcoholic beverages are allowed on
activities
- Read and sign the Waiver and Release of Liability prior
to activity. For minors to participate, each must have a
waiver signed by their parent/legal guardian
- Carry day hike essentials
- Contribute to driver for fuel. A maximum of 10 cents per
mile may be assessed to cover actual cost (at driver’s
discretion)

- Sun Protection
(Sunglasses, lip balm, sun screen)
- Navigation
(map/compass)
- Multi-tool and
repair kit (duct tape, clothing repair items, etc.)
- Fire
(Waterproof matches, lighter, or chemical fire starter and
candle)
- First aid kit
(with moleskin for blister prevention)
- Lighting with
spare batteries and bulb (hands free headlamp recommended)
- Toilet kit
(paper & trowel)
- Food & water
(snacks and/or lunch for trail plus extra for emergency)
- Whistle
(accessible outside of pack)
- Activity
appropriate clothing and footwear and extra clothing
- Emergency
shelter (such as Mylar blanket, tarp, etc.)
- Rain

DEGREES OF DIFFICULTY (hike, snow
shoe, and XC ski)
(E) - Easy Shorter distance usually on relatively flat ground
(up to 6 miles with less than 1000 ft. e.g.)
(M) - Moderate Medium distance with more elevation gain (over 6
miles with over 1000 ft. e.g.)
(S) - Strenuous Long distance with significant elevation gain
(over 9 miles with over 2000 ft. e.g.)
